Re-Work Wednesday: Page 97

 

This week's Re-Work Wednesday card is inspired by a card on page 97 of the Idea Book & Catalog. For my version, I used the Upsy Daisy set. The original card is shown below:

 

Making this card brought to mind a tip I wanted to point out: Often, when I want to cut out an image and use it for detail, such as the leaf on the original card, I tend to look for a lone image, like a single flower or leaf. However, remember that you also can stamp a "group" image, like the big stamp in the Upsy Daisy set, and then cut out just one leaf or flower from that group. Just another way to get more mileage out of your stamps!

A Field of Green

 

I'm just back from vacation, and I think a piece of me is still in the Great Smokey Mountains! I wanted to make a card today, but also wanted it to be quick and easy, so that I could get back to my vacation mindset!

Thinking of all the great scenery I saw on vacation, I grabbed the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set and went to town, stamping the little plant in Old Olive, on a strip of Certainly Celery. A piece of silver Hodgepodge Hardware completes the card. I'm off to read a book and pretend I'm still on vacation!

Music for My Sweetie

 

Today is my 16th anniversary, and this is the card I made for my dear husband. I used the Music Expressions set, one that I bought just because I love to watercolor. I stamped it in Basic Brown on Watercolor Paper, then colored it using an Aquapainter and Watercolor Crayons.

 

I look forward to sharing this special card, and this special day, with him!

Re-Work Wednesday: Page 184

 

Today's Re-Work Wednesday post comes from page 184 of the Idea Book & Catalog. I chose a whole different color palette, starting with a Tempting Turquoise card and topping it with Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper. I think this is a great way to showcase some of the large images you get on various pieces of DSP.

I didn't have the piece of chipboard used in the original, so I used a flower from the On Board So Tweet collection. I stamped a couple of images from the Enjoy Every Moment set and placed that behind the center of the chiboard flower. The original card is shown below:

 

They hardly look like the same card, right? And that's the point of Re-Work Wednesday!

Go Team!

 

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, my son's All-Star team is headed to the World Series! I'm the Team Mom, and I made each boy a few goodies for the trip.

Using my Big Shot and the Top Note Die, I made mini scrapbooks, putting in photos of each individual boy, as well as some team shots. Having a scrapbooker for a mom, my son is used to seeing photos of himself in books that he can flip through at any time. But I realize that a lot of kids don't have that luxury, because many of us keep our photos on the computer and never print them out.

When I handed these out, each boy raced to see photos of himself. These were quick and easy to make with the Big Shot and it was worth every minute when I saw the looks on their faces.

Seeing Stars

 

We've been seeing stars around my house all summer--All-Stars, that is. My son made his All-Star baseball team again this year, and after a whirlwind of district and state tournaments (and lots of fund-raising!), the boys are going to the World Series! What a great experience, one they'll never forget.

I'm the Team Mom, so you just know that each boy has to get some handmade goodies. I made each boy a little travel bag for the 9-hour drive. I put together an activity book and even made a personalized Word Search game, using all of their names.

The bags are decorated with the Sporting stamp set, and the small and large star punches. Trust me, if you have any current or future little sports stars in your house, you need to get the Sporting set. It has great images that can be used for any sport, and you will be stamping with it for years to come.

 

I also stamped each boy's name on his bag, using letter stamps. And, when their faces lighted up, I remembered all over again how much kids love seeing their names in print!

Putting You On a Pedestal

 

This is the year me and all my high school buddies turn the big 4-0. This card is for one of my oldest and dearest friends, whose birthday is today. Her husband threw her a surprise party back in June (great way to keep it a surprise--have it three weeks before the actual birthday!), and I was so sad that I couldn't go. I hope this card lets her know she was in my thoughts, even though I couldn't be there.

The card is made with the new On a Pedestal stamp set. With all the different images, it makes a fun choice for any celebration. I used the Trio Flower punch to punch out lots of little flowers from Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper, and the new Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo In Colors.
