This week's Re-Work Wednesday project comes from an unexpected source--My Digital Studio! I've been working with the scrapbooking portion of the program, but this is the first card I've made. It was super quick and easy to make and I love the realistic details this program provides--check out the grosgrain ribbon and the shiny brad!

I'm busy creating my first album in the new My Digital Studio program, which becomes available to customers on Oct. 1--only 2 more days!
As I've said before, I really am a paper-loving gal. I spent much of my weekend creating traditional scrapbook pages, in fact. But I can see how a program like this would be a great time and creativity saver on occasion. For instance, my son and husband took a trip to NY last year; I was not able to go with them. My husband really wants me to scrapbook the photos he took, but I found it a challenge for many reasons. First, there are more than 150 photos to deal with! Second, I wasn't on the trip, so these memories aren't mine and that makes it difficult to judge which photos to use and how to journal these pages.
That's where MDS is coming to the rescue! We had my son type some journaling when he first came home from the trip and the memories were fresh (a great tip, no matter what type of scrapbooking you like!). I am able to take that journaling and plop it straight onto the pages I'm creating with MDS. I have chosen a Designer album that is pre-designed by Stampin' Up's own staff. There are background papers, brads, stamps and journaling blocks--all in SU's colors and all chosen to work together. All I have to do is add the photos and the journaling. I can handle that!

Yes, I know we're not even into October yet, but believe it or not, it is time to start talking about Christmas Card Camp! This is my annual holiday-kickoff event, where you will make 20 cards using the Berry Christmas stamp set. You will make 4 different card designs, assembling 5 of each design. Two of the cards are shown here.
Christmas Card Camp will be on Nov. 7, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Park Station. You can start arriving as early as 10:30 a.m., to mount your stamp set, which is included in the admission price of $50. All materials are provided; you just bring your adhesive of choice.
All my stampers look forward to this annual event. We have door prizes, Christmas music playing and a whole afternoon of stamping--what could be more fun?
If you can't make it to camp, you can purchase a to-go kit with materials, instructions and color photos of the projects, so that you can make them at home. Also, for the first time, I am offering an extra materials kit, which includes all the paper and envelopes to make another 20 cards at home. The paper will be for the same card designs you make at camp. The extra materials kit costs $15.
The registration deadline for this camp is Oct. 24. Due to the volume of materials that must be ordered, it is a prepaid-only event. With trick or treating on the brain, I decided to use Stampin' Up's new Treat Cups for today's card. The Treat Cups are a blast! They coordinate with the Sweet Centers stamp set, shown in the Holiday Mini Catalog. To begin, use the 1-3/4" circle punch to punch a hole in the front of the card. Fill the Treat Cup with whatever goodie you have in mind--you can use candy or buttons or sequins--you have tons of options! Don't put the Treat Cup through the hole just yet.
After the Treat Cup is filled, it will need to be backed with another piece of paper, to seal in the goodies. For this sample, I cut a piece of Elegant Eggplant (to match my card) to 3"x3". Then I punched out the circle from the middle of my stamped image and mounted that to the 3x3 mat, so that it would show through to the front of the card.
There are different takes on how to do this. My solution was this: After I had sealed the cup to the mat, I put some Dotto (repositionable adhesive) on the mat and then inserted the Treat Cup through the hole in the card, pressing the corners of my mat to the inside of the card. Items sealed with Dotto can be pulled apart without destroying the paper. Once the Treat Cup is removed, there will be a hole in the card, so you may want to punch another circle and place it on the card's inside, so that it shows through. You also could stamp a greeting there.
I've bought more candy to make more Treat Cup cards (no really, the candy IS for the cards!), so I hope to have more samples soon!
Today's Re-Work Wednesday project is inspired by page 63 of the Idea Book & Catalog. For my version, I used the Eat, Drink & Be Scary set, which I think is so fun! To give the hat some extra pop, I inked it with Pumpkin Pie Craft Ink, then embossed with Crystal Clear EP. I was happy that all the details came out so well.

Hold on to your punches and scissors, because this is a page created entirely with the new My Digital Studio software, Stampin' Up's new digital scrapbooking product. MDS, as it is becoming known, will sell for $79.95 and will be available on Oct. 1.
Now, for those of you paper diehards (and I'm one of you!), there are lots of advantages to MDS. Even if you never want to print a digital layout, you can use the software to plan what your page will look like with various colors and embellishments, before you get out your materials. MDS uses Stampin' Up's exclusive colors, stamps and embellishments. A nice selection of "stamps" comes with the program, and more will become available through downloads.
You can print your creations at home if you like, or have them professionally printed through our vendor. Scrapbook pages can be printed individually, or you can have an entire book printed and bound. In addition to scrapbook pages, you can print cards and calendars--perfect for gifts! If a printed page just isn't touchy-feely enough for you, you can add a few "real" embellishments of your own after the page is printed (this is called "hybrid scrapbooking").
As I said, I'm a paper kind of girl, but I will be having lots of fun with this program. I wanted to do a small album, but I was daunted by the number of photos--and the fact that I wasn't even on the trip. I plan to use MDS to make a mini album, just popping photos into the pre-designed layouts and adding some already-typed journaling.

This week's Re-Work Wednesday project is inspired by page 71 of the Idea Book & Catalog. I used a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper behind my Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware. Do you know that Stampin' Up! punches are specially designed to fit several pieces of Hodgepodge Hardware? In this example, I used the Designer Label Punch to fit behind this little bookplate.

It has been a while since I played with the Sticky Cuts Sweet die cuts and glitter, so I thought it was time for another project combining these fun and easy tools. Many of the die cuts in Sticky Cuts Sweet are flowers, begging for bright colors. But, I've been in a Fall kind of mood lately, and so I was hankering for some Fall colors. Don't ask me why, considering I live in Florida and it is still 90 degrees here, but I suppose I'm dreaming of cooler days!
Normally, when using the Sticky Cuts, you remove it from the sheet, pull off the backing and adhere it to the card, then pull off the front covering and add glitter. But, I wanted to use 3 different colors of glitter (all from the Fine Supernova Glitter pack) and I was worried that would get a bit messy. So, I popped out the die cut, then stuck a Stampin' Dimensional to the back. This gave me a little "handle" to hold onto while I worked with the piece. Then I removed the front covering and stared sprinkling glitter.
When I first used this technique, I used three plastic spoons to add small amounts of glitter. The thing you have to remember is that with glitter, you normally spill as much as you like over the die-cut, then just add the leftovers back into the jar. But, because this project uses 3 different colors, I wouldn't be able to add them back into their respective jars, unless I wanted to create a new jar called Fall (which wouldn't be a bad idea, by the way!).
After sprinkling on the colors oh so delicately, I finally decided to just take the die-cut and mush it down into the glitters that had mixed on my Powder Pals small tray. Don't you just love my technical terms?? Anyway, after I had finished with this leaf, I had enough glitter sitting in the tray to do one more, so that is exactly what I did and now I have an extra one waiting to go on another card! The beauty is that because the glitters are mixed, each leaf is different, just like in reality. Not that I ever get to see a Fall leaf in Florida, but a girl can dream!
This is the envy card we will be making at Stamp Camp tomorrow night--and by envy, no, I don't mean "green with it." I call this the envy card because it is made with a standard-size envelope.
