My pre-Thanksgiving projects continue with this little guy, whom I have been calling Turkey Lurkey. He is made from a variety of punches. Not being one whose brain thinks that way, I got the directions from Stampin' Success, a magazine SU sends to demonstrators each month--another great perk of my job!
To make the feathers, use the Scalloped Circle Punch to punch 3 different colors. I used Old Olive, Real Red and Chocolate Chip. Then fold each scalloped circle as follows:
Count 5 scallops and fold from the edge of one scallop to the other side. This works best if you score it with a bone folder first.
Turn over the scalloped circle so that the part you just folded is facing down. Score a vertical line down the center of the scalloped circle and create a crease, although you don't need to fold it all the way over. It should look kind of like butterfly wings at this point.
Now, fold each side of the circle in so that it meets the crease you just made--like a paper airplane fold.
To keep the feathers from being too puffy on my card, I stapled through all layers, near the point. I then glued the whole thing to the card.
The remaining punches are as follows:
1-3/8" circle for the body
3/4" circle for the head
Double circle punch for eyes
Flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch for feet and a piece of a flower for the beak
The 3/16" punch on the Crop-a-Dile for the buttons
Cut a 3/4" square of black for the hat, then trim part off to make the brim.
Mount the body with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Have fun making your own Turkey Lurkey!
