First off, I would like to explain that unlike most home-party companies, Stampin' Up! has absolutely NO party requirements. You do not have to give us the names of six hostesses before you can sign up, and you are not penalized if you don't have a party each month. In fact, you are NEVER required to work a party and there are plenty of demonstrators who don't. Some demonstrators enjoy simply placing orders for themselves and their close friends, and getting a 20% discount in the process. Yes, that's right, I said a 20% discount!
Having said that, Stampin' Up! can provide a nice income for those who wish to do parties and Stamp Camps. I've been a demonstrator for seven years and am happy to say that my Stampin' Up! business contributes to the financial well-being of my family. When my SUV died last year (right at Christmas!), we started looking at new ones and my husband lamented the idea of taking on another car payment. "No problem," I told him, "I'll pay for it with my Stampin' Up! money." That got his attention!
To become a demonstrator, you must purchase the Stampin' Up! starter kit, which you can personalize with a choice of stamp sets and ink pads. The kit costs $199, but Stampin' Up! frequently offers special discounts or promotions. We can handle your signup online, with no forms to fill out.
When you get your kit, you do not have to meet a quota for the calendar quarter (i.e. January-March) in which you join. In the second quarter, you would be required to meet a $300 quota. Again, those sales can come from anywhere, including yourself. So, if you joined in February, for instance, you would have until June to do your first $300 in sales. If, at the end of that quarter, you did not meet the quota, you would be given one month to make up the difference. If the deficit was not taken care of, then you simply would drop your demonstrator status.
As a fellow demonstrator told me when I signed up, if you don't continue, no one takes away your stamps! You can decide to drop and you still get to keep all the great products, so what do you have to lose?
